Surfer Gary McNamara Surfs 78 Foot Wave in Portugal
(ABC 15) A Hawaiian surfer caught what is considered to be the biggest wave ever.
Garrett McNamara caught the monster wave in Praia do Norte, Nazar, Portugual, according to surfertoday.com .
The video was caught from the vantage point of a jet ski and posted to YouTube.
McNamara said he and Andrew Cotty surfed two big waves of about 60 feet and then when he was ready, there came a canyon wave of over 90 feet.
This was not the first time McNamara has caught giant waves at Praia do Norte which is under the influence of a phenomenon known as “Nazar Canyon” that creates unusual giant waves, according to the report.
The wave was big enough to give McNamara a spot in the Guinness World Records .
